We want things right now, and God looks ahead and sees the perfect timing is for Him to fulfill His promises to us. There are even some promises God has given us that we may never see fulfilled in this lifetime. Abraham didn’t see the fulfillment of God’s promises...at least not in his time on this earth. Yet still, God’s word tells us that we can trust Him unconditionally because He wants the best for us, and has great things planned for our future...dreams that we cannot even imagine! He thinks about us so much that His thoughts toward us outnumber the grains of sand.

Rest assured...we can trust God’s timing...even when we think His clock is broken.

Jay and Brittany Hagy

This life we're in is a battle. A battle not fought with flesh and blood, but a spiritual battle fought against the enemy of our souls.

A battle where the enemy works overtime to distract us, discourage us, defeat us, to make us doubt who Christ is and who we are in Him. If we aren't being attacked by the enemy, then we may need to take a look at our hearts, and see if we are as dedicated to Christ as we think we are. The enemy isn't like God . . . he can't be all places at the same time, so he isn't going to waste his precious time distracting someone who is already ineffective or isn't doing anything for God. It's those who desire to serve and please Christ that the enemy spends his time on . . . it's the Christians who dedicate their lives to loving people and serving their King who he seeks to devour.

This is a battle . . . it's a real, all-out war. And the battleground is our minds. Thousands upon thousands of thoughts race in and out of our minds daily, and the enemy sees opportunity to get in there and confuse us. The archenemy of our souls seeps into our thoughts and drenches them with doubt of God's calling on our lives . . . "God can't use you! You aren't good enough! You don't measure up! You don't have what it takes!" But what God wants is a willing heart. His word says He equips us for service to Him; He teaches us and gives us the resources required to carry out His will. If we are willing, submissive, and obedient . . . He can work wonders in and through us! Our past is forgiven, and we can move ahead in Christ!! Sometimes I just want so desperately to know if God is really approving of what I am doing or not. I just have to ask Him, and then be still enough to listen to His answer, all the while praying for His word to seep into my spirit and quiet the questions and fears of my heart. He responds. He responds in love - unconditional love and true acceptance. It's in Him that I find validation.

When I wonder why I have so many doubts about who God's made me to be, He reminds me that He uses the weak to do His work. "It is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends." (2 Corinthians 10:18)

How do we fight? Ephesians chapter 6 tells us. "Put on the full armor of God!" Be armed with His Word . . . know the TRUTH to fight the lies of the enemy. The shield of faith will protect us from the devil's flaming arrows. Put on the helmet of salvation. These are just a few of the instructions given in scripture. Dig in and seek it out for yourself. He gives us all we need to fight against the enemy. We will win this war!!! But until that day of final reconciliation comes . . .

Guard your mind . . . we're in the heat of the battle

Brittany Hagy
